CLEMCo debt recovery policy approved

All CLEMCo Members who are owners of freehold houses on College Lawns are bound by their Deed of Covenant which provides specific obligations on them to pay their annual service charge, together with interest and recovery costs on any arrears. All CLEMCo Members who are leaseholders of apartments in College Court and the Old College are bound by their lease, which provides similar obligations.

Unfortunately, as we reported at the last CLEMCo AGM in June 2025, there are still a number of service charges which are unpaid from 2024 and 2025. These add up to several thousand pounds which we can ill afford to lose and will further deplete our reserves if not recovered. They exclude outstanding amounts from those paying by monthly instalments. This affects us all, and the Board has therefore approved a policy on debt collection which is being implemented with immediate effect.

A copy of this policy is being circulated to all CLEMCo members by Scanlans, the managing agents, and it is also available in the Members Documents section on the Login page. All Members should be aware that, on the sale of any property, the vendors solicitor has an obligation to consult with the managing agent to ensure there are no arrears of service charges.
